To our friends and customers,
Today we have three new additions to Roseland. They are well suited to this time of year, though that was not intentional!
Our glass hurricanes are mouth-blown by Asher Holman in Asheville, using silica from Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Their shape is drawn from an early nineteenth-century example in the Met’s collection, though it’s as familiar a form as you might expect. We also added a glass base to hold a taper candle. There are small bubbles and ripples in the glass, and slight variations in shape from working it by hand.
Our new sideboard takes its cues from the same 1825 Shaker double counter that inspired our dressers. Those have become some of our most-loved pieces, and we wanted to adapt them for the kitchen and dining room: a 36-inch counter height, undermount soft-close drawers and a choice of widths.
As with our dressers, each drawer front is a single board of cherry or walnut. It gives you a long, uninterrupted stretch of grain to look at, with just linseed oil rubbed into the wood. The drawer boxes are dovetailed white pine. If the height suits, there’s no reason it shouldn’t also be a dresser.
And lastly, we’re finally releasing the loveseat version of our Rolled Arm Sofa. It’s the same form and materials but in a more intimate size. For customer owned textiles, the required yardage is 15 yards.
Thank you for being a customer. As always, if you have any questions about any of these, anything on our site, or just an existing Roseland item you own, please just respond to this email and we’ll get in touch. In the future, we will be using Substack’s email tool to send our new product emails. Pictures of all the pieces are below.
Best,
Luke
